Welcome to QR & Barcode Scanner, developed and published by Kitabasoft. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our Android application.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This app was designed with a privacy-first approach — all core functionality (scanning, generating, history) works entirely on your device without sending any data to our servers.
We do not collect any personal information. Specifically:
- We do not require account creation or login
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or any personal identifiers
- We do not track your location
- We do not record or transmit the contents of QR codes or barcodes you scan
- All scan history, favorites, and generated QR codes are stored locally on your device only
- We do not have access to any data stored in the app
The app requests the following Android permissions. Each is used solely for app functionality and never for data collection:
- Camera — Required to scan QR codes and barcodes. The camera feed is processed entirely on-device and is never recorded, saved, or transmitted.
- Vibrate — To provide haptic feedback when a code is successfully scanned.
- Read Media Images — To allow scanning QR codes from your photo gallery. Images are processed locally and never uploaded.
- Internet — Required only for loading Google AdMob advertisements. No personal data is sent by our app through this connection.
- Access Wi-Fi State — Used solely to display Wi-Fi network information from a scanned Wi-Fi QR code. No network data is collected.
This app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain data to serve relevant ads, governed by Google’s own privacy policies.
AdMob may collect: device identifiers (Advertising ID), device type & OS version, general location (country/region, not GPS), and ad interaction data.
You can opt out of personalised ads: Android Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalisation

All data generated by your use of this app is stored exclusively on your local device using Android’s Room database and SharedPreferences.
- Data is never backed up to our servers
- Data is protected by your device’s built-in security (screen lock, encryption)
- Delete all app data: Android Settings → Apps → QR & Barcode Scanner → Clear Data
- Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data
The app integrates the following third-party SDKs, each with its own privacy policy:
- Google ML Kit Barcode Scanning — Processes camera frames on-device. No data is sent to Google during scanning.
- Google AdMob — Provides advertising. See Section 4 above.
- ZXing (Zebra Crossing) — Open-source QR code generation library. Operates entirely offline with no data collection.
- AndroidX / Jetpack libraries — Standard Google Android development libraries. No personal data collection.
This app is rated Everyone and is suitable for all ages. Since we do not collect any personal information from any users, there is no risk of collecting data from children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect any information from children and the app contains no content directed specifically at children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:
- The “Last Updated” date at the top of this page will be revised
- For significant changes, we will notify users through an in-app notice or Play Store update description
- Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
Since we do not collect personal data, most data protection rights are inherently satisfied. You always have the right to:
- Delete all app data — Via Android Settings or by uninstalling the app
- Opt out of personalised ads — Via your device’s Google settings
- Contact us — If you have questions or concerns about this policy
EU residents (GDPR) and California residents (CCPA): since we do not collect or process personal data, these regulations have minimal direct applicability. Google AdMob’s data practices fall under Google’s own compliance framework.
